Simplifying Survey Reports through relatable communication
Year: 2024
Category: Internal Content & Campaign Development

The Challenge
Transnet had conducted a ‘Finger on the Pulse Survey’ for all employees across its seven operational divisions. The outcome of the survey boasted 23 865 participants, which was an improvement of 11 138 participants more than the last survey which was conducted in 2020. They had a challenge of communicating the survey results to all 50 000 plus employees across the organisation in a simplified and relatable manner. The big challenge was communicating the results to a segmented audience who do not have access to similar workplace communication tools.
Our Solution
We developed a campaign strategy that segmented their internal audience according to their two main categories which are ‘Plugged in’ and 'Unplugged’. For relatability and resonance, we incorporated different South African languages and gave employees the option to receive information in their preferred languages. The approach was divided into digital and experiential depending on the type of audience we were communicating with. Our automated WhatsApp chat response software was very instrumental in bridging the access gap for employees who do not have work laptops.
Breaking barriers, improving reach
Due to the simplification of the ‘Finger on the Pulse Survey Results’, the participation rate far outnumbered the amount of actual survey participants. Only 23 865 employees took the survey, whereas 39 423 employees participated in the results process.
